A Thriller of A Read

As Dave Logan's second-in-command at Deep Six Security, Slade is less than excited to be left holding down the fort at home while Dave and his new bride Susan are away (and incommunicado!) on their honeymoon. Because, as sure as shooting, trouble comes knocking, and it's up to Slade and the rest of the Deep Six crew to keep things from boiling over. Add in one small but mighty woman and her ill-behaved dog, a kidnapped boy, and a former Special Forces operative with a bad attitude, and it's all Slade can do to keep from losing it.
Becky McGraw's Deep Six Security series is quickly becoming a favorite of mine. The men of Deep Six are a force to be reckoned with, but it's their personalities and quirks that make them so enjoyable. And, of course, any woman that is equal to the task of hanging with the men of Deep Six has got to be feisty and self-assured, and both Taylor and Cee Cee have that in spades.
I thoroughly enjoyed Twisted Honor. It is action-packed, with an engaging storyline, and, as I said, characters that I have really come to like. I also very much appreciate that Becky weaves information into the plot about subjects that are very pertinent to former military folks and the people that care for them.
Twisted Honor is an all-around good read, and is an easy 4-star book for me. If you're a fan of a bunch of alpha males and the women that love them (and, really, who isn't?!), grab this one and enjoy. (P.S. If you haven't read Till Death (Deep Six Security Book 1), I highly recommend it, too.)

Doesn't leave you lacking in anything

Wow, I thought the first book in this series was great, and it was, but Twisted Honor shot the series up a couple levels. Slade was an intriguing character in the first book, but he really comes into his own in this book. Left in command when his boss at Deep Six Security goes on his honeymoon Slade knows he doesn't want to be in charge, and he quickly finds out why. Things go bad fast and Slade is scrambling to save the contract with their biggest client. Between his PTSD, his service dog Lola, his decision to hire two new female agents (not the most popular decision in this male dominated world) and the fact he really doesn't want to be boss, Slade is struggling and that just makes him real. Bring in Taylor, one of his new hires, and her goofy Lab Buddy, and Slade's life is definitely twisting in the wind. Taylor is also a complicated personality. She's strong while facing many complications in her life and Slade is one of them. The two of them are great together. The issues Deep Six Security face in this tale come straight from recent actual headlines. Terrorism, explosions and kidnapping allow the talented and eclectic employees at DAS to shine. Their specialties and character are showcased in this book and make the story riveting. Ms. McGraw has created a seriously impressive world of strong women, daring men and convincing storylines. The dogs are the icing on this cake.

Deep Six is getting deeper...

Slade, one name only, (yeah right), is ex-military working for Deep Six Security. He is paranoid and suffers from PTSD, his saving grace is his dog Lola, a military dog, trained to sniff out bombs among other things. His boss, Logan is on his honeymoon and has left Slade in charge which doesn't sit well with him at all. Enter Taylor Kincaid, head of security at the posh hotel, where the prince's son has been kidnapped. Slade and Taylor have to work together to find the kidnapped boy, along with Lola and Taylor's dog Buddy. If Slade thinks he can get away with bossing Taylor around, he is in for a surprise, she is quite a little firecracker, as they soon find out.
Kudos to Becky McGraw, she handled a real problem, PTSD, with dignity and grace, when Slade would have a flashback, I could almost feel his pain, and despair. Taylor has her own issues, and the although the two are a messed up pair, they have a job to do, and I must say they do it very well.
If you love a book loaded with action, passion, humor and a cast of lovable but quirky characters, then this book is for you. Be forewarned, you will not want to put it down, it is that good. The antics of Buddy, the dog is priceless, and so is the underwear obsession that Slade has. The epilogue was precious, I really enjoyed it. Becky McGraw, if I could give this one more than five stars, I would have gladly done it!!
