About the Author

Ronald W. Toseland is Director and Professor, Institute of Gerontology, School of Social Welfare, University at Albany, State University of New York. He holds an MSW from Fordham University and a Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin at Madison.� He has published 6 books and over 110 articles and book chapters, many of which have focused on clinical practice with the frail and chronically ill older adults and their family caregivers. An edited book (with David Haigler and Deborah Monahan) Education and Support Group Programs for Family Caregivers: Implications for Practice, Research and Policy is in press (N.Y., Springer). Dr. Toseland is internationally recognized for his research on social work practice with groups and effective interventions for problems faced by aging individuals. His research findings have been featured in Congress and internationally. Dr. Toseland has received more than $10 million in grants for research. He was awarded the Association for Gerontology Education in Social Work Career Achievement Award in 2007 for outstanding lifelong contributions’ the Society for Social Work and Research Distinguished Achievement Award in 2008 and was inducted as a Fellow of the American Academy of Social Work and Social Welfare in 2010.

Robert F. Rivas is Professor of Social Work at Siena College in Albany NY.� He has published 2 books, several articles, book chapters and conference papers.� He holds a BA Degree from New Mexico Highlands University and an MSW degree from Arizona State University.� His practice has focused on individual and group work with children and families as well as work with Native Americans.� Professor Rivas has served on both the Commission on Accreditation and he Board of Directors for the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).�� He has also been honored by the Association of Baccalaureate Program Directors in Social Work (BPD) and was awarded the BPD Presidential Medal of Honor in 2008 for his service to this organization.� Professor Rivas has consulted extensively with social work education programs across the country, specializing in curriculum development and accreditation services

About the Author
Dennis Higley was a sixth-generation Mormon who became an Elder’s Quorum president while still in his early twenties. About a decade later, he was ordained a High Priest and called to serve on the Stake High Council. Rauni Higley worked as a translator and language coordinator for the LDS Church for more than fourteen years and held teaching positions in both Sunday school and the Relief Society. Her privileged position allowed her to study Mormon history from many books not generally available to LDS membership, which eventually led her to share with her husband her growing concerns about discrepancies hidden by the Church. Together they launched an intensive private study of the “facts” of Mormonism with guidance from God and His Word. This ultimately led Dennis and Rauni out of the darkness and into the light.

This is an excellent voice against the deception that is the Mormon church. Truly eye-opening, this book provides a factual synopsis of the deceptions of the Mormon church. It is a quick read, which I think is well-suited to people's busy lives. It provides a quick explanation of each point and provides references to additional material (e.g. other books, Mormon scriptures) for readers who desire further investigation. This book has proven so very useful for Christian friends who thing Mormonism is "alright for the most part," then they learn more about it from this book and realize that's not the case. I keep two around the house in case the missionaries come by too. Thank you for writing this book; it has impact.

Easy to read

Easy to read, but practice problems are sloppy. Units are missing or don't make sense. Also 1/2 the answers to problems are not correct and as a student this is very frustrating because I will spend time trying to figure out what I did wrong when really the book is wrong.

About the Author

Sam Hamill is an esteemed poet, translator, essayist and editor. He was Editor of Copper Canyon Press from 1972-2004. Hamill has taught at prisons for fourteen years, in artist-in-residency programs for twenty years, and has worked extensively with battered women and children. He is the author of more than forty volumes of poetry, poetry-in-translation, and essays including, Almost Paradise: Selected Poems & Translations (2005), Dumb Luck (2002), Gratitude (1998), and A Poet’s Work (1998). He also founded Poets Against War in 2003.
