She begins with a discussion of feminism and Marxism, because (as she explains) the latter is the only contemporary political tradition to confront organized social dominance as a dynamic. She goes on to analyze feminist method (consciousness-raising) and the knowledge it reveals; and what she calls feminism unmodified (radical feminism) as a post-Marxist methodology. She explores issues of sexuality/gender and how they contribute to women's oppression and the role of the liberal state in promoting it. Revealing, closely reasoned, densely written, this is not easy reading, but sure to be hotly debated among academicians and intellectuals. For university libraries.

MacKinnon's work on social constructionist radical feminist is the most eloquent, powerful, persuasive articulation of the field to date. "Postmodernism" could learn a lot by looking back to MacKinnon and REALLY understanding what she has to say instead of dismissing her work as 'essentialist.' MacKinnon continues to be a brilliant, important voice in feminism despite its energies being tapped by unfortunate new movements in academic that have distracted young scholars' attention. A Must Read.

The writing of Catharine MacKinnon is the most thorough and conclusive explanations of male domination in our society that I have had the pleasure of exploring. It refutes many other feminist theories and then gives a solid base for her own explanation of feminism. I highly recomend this writing to anyone interested in feminism or political theory.

MacKinnon's most noteworthy contribution to jurisprudential thought has been to point out the patriarchal assumptions of the U.S. Constitution, in light of modern feminist theory. In Towards a Feminist Theory..., MacKinnon writes an almost Foucaultian analysis of current constitutional jurisprudence -- the post-modern assessment of individual thought censorship as perpetrated by the male-dominated forum of political discourse is prevalent in many of her works but particularly, in this one.
She is a compelling and dramatic writer and while her arguments run the gamut -- from the distastefully provocative to rigorously logical to total raving rants, it is impossible to dismiss her entirely. I recommend that those interested in her writings read the law review articles she has written on similar issues. It should be taken with the grain of salt, however, that her biases against men in general are profound and even disturbing.

If I could give this book zero stars, I would. It reads like a first draft, thrown together in a week, with no editing or proofreading. Such a disgrace! The very worst of self-publishing. I returned it immediately on the grounds that it was "defective."

Really Good!

Two years ago, Maya divorced her husband Will after catching him cheating on her. It's been two years since Maya saw her ex-husbands best friend and foster brother Jack. Jack and Maya had an easy friendship but Jack has been avoiding Maya since the divorce. Now, Jack is back in town for business and runs into Maya and the chemistry between them is still there. Jack's been in love with Maya since he first saw her but stepped aside when his best friend made a move on her first. The more time they spend together, the harder it is to fight their feelings for each other.

This is one of my very favorite friends to lovers story. Maya and Jack had fantastic chemistry together. This book was funny, sweet, sexy and fun. I loved this story! There were a few things I didn't like but even with the things I didn't like, this was still a 5 star book for me. The writing was so good, I adored the main characters and Maya's friends. I loved the ending. I loved that each chapter starts with a quote from the TV show Friends. I loved the banter between Maya and Jack. This was just such a good book! I highly recommend this one to anyone who loves a friends to lovers story!

A wonderful heartwarming read.

This is a sweet heartwarming read with wonderful characters you can relate to. Friends first than loves are the best stories. This was a fun loving very believable story that you will find yourself laughing out loud. They met with a smile each going their own ways but staying friends. One secret love that last a lifetime, one man who would do anything to keep his true love happy. One night holds one secret that if it ever got out would destroy everything he has built with Maya.

Jack has been in love with Maya for years, he moved over and let his best friend have her only to have that love destroyed leaving Jack walking away from one friend to keep another. For four years Maya has been his world he has loved her from afar. Now he has the chance to make her his but again family is in the way. How can one keep his family and the women he loves. He is torn and has been for years. He walked away once but he doesn't know if he can again. I fell in love with Jack from the start he is so strong, caring and loving. He is a wonderfully sweet man. If anything he is a little to nice giving in to family and his best friend walking away from the women he has always loved. He holds so many people's hearts in his hands but sooner or later he must make a stand make a choice which could set a family apart....

Maya gave her all to one man four years ago only to find out he wasn't her forever it left her broken and destroyed. Now she is second guessing everything she does. Who to trust, who not to.... She is at a place in her life that she wants a family. There is no man in site she could trust but one man who is off limits. When Jack walks back into her life it is already complicated with the feelings she has for him it just got more complicated. Maya is wonderfully sweet and I give her a high five for doing what she did for her ex. I just do not think I could have. How can a woman have a man who is best friends almost like a brother with her ex. Who will win and who will lose, who will have to walk away from the person they love or the family they adore?

The author put a lot of thought into this plot and it's characters. It was a fun loving read which will keep you smiling. There are times when your heart goes out to them and others when you would like to slam some heads together. I liked the chemistry between Maya and Jack it seemed so real and powerful. Griffin was an added touch to the story, which just adds more complication to the story but gives it meaning. I loved Maya group of friends they are supportive but tell it like it is. I even came to like her ex, that really surprised me. I guess everyone grows up at some point. It was an all round good read that will give you the warm and fuzzy feelings. This is the second book I have read by this author who capture her readers pulling them in leaving them wanting more. I am so looking forward to the rest of this series

How Forever Feels has its sweet moment, and just enough romantic angst to keep it interesting without feeling overdone.

How Forever Feels is a sweet contemporary romance with well-developed characters and a sexually-charged couple that are clearly perfect for each other if they could only get past their issues. When Maya's ex-husband's best friend shows up in town, the two rekindle a friendship that evaporated with Maya's divorce.

When Jack admits he's always had a thing for Maya, their friendship becomes muddled with feelings neither one wants to give into for various reasons. Watching these two dance around each other is refreshing. Their friendship is at the core of the relationship, but both want more, and in this twist, both know the other wants more, and they even know what's holding them back, but that doesn't make it any less angsty.

Plot
The plot is pretty straightforward romance without any major twists or surprises, but it works well without ever becoming predictable. Which sounds impossible, but trust me, it isn't. There are a lot of balls in the air with Maya's antagonistic relationship with her ex and his fiance, who also happens to be the woman Maya caught him with. There's also Jack's relationship with the ex and his family who took Jack in as a homeless teen. There's a hot guy in the wings waiting for Maya, a secret Maya's keeping from Jack, and a secret Jack's keeping from Maya.

Characters
The character depth is amazing and a real treat to read. When I first started the book, I didn't realize it was the fourth in a series, but as the other characters were so well-developed, it didn't surprise me to find out each couple has their own story. Author Laura Drewry has created a cast of characters that are alive and colorful in a way that makes it difficult to believe they're not real.

Writing
The story is told in alternating third-person, but is deep enough that it feels like first-person at times. Drewry pays attention to detail with her scene setting, drawing us in with vivid imagery, something often missing from contemporary romance.

Ending
The ending was well done, and provided a small surprise that wrapped things up neatly in a happy bow of love and promise.

Top Five Things I Enjoyed About How Forever Feels:
1. The cast. I loved all the characters. Yes it was Maya and Jack's story, but the supporting cast is so well-developed, even though I haven't read the first three books in the series, I didn't need to in order to appreciate everyone in the book as well-rounded and full.

2. The dialogue. It all came across as so natural and real and helped define the characters more fully.

3. Good guys. They don't always finish last, and Jack is among the best of the good guys.

4. Canadian Thanksgiving. It's on a Monday. How cool is that?

5. Maya and Jack. Their friendship is solid and really is the foundation for everything else. I love this about them.

Bottom Line
How Forever Feels has its sweet moment, and just enough romantic angst to keep it interesting without feeling overdone.
